Oils seal Orientation

Can't believe I'm asking this as I've done it loads of times, but have got to the point where I've thought about it and am now doubting myself.

I'm putting my 1984 DT15 back together and can't remember which way round the outer Crankshaft oil seals go.

I think the top one has the open part of the 'U' or cup facing inwards and the lower one has it facing outwards.
ie both of them have the open part of the 'U' facing down.

Thanks Catacom, but on a 2-stroke the crankcase fluctuates.
