I received the following from "Harper" thought a few people should see this.. art.......

Looks like I won't be around for awhile
I am unable to post or reply to any posts on this forum. Those who run the forum don't seem to care much. I might try to come back under a different username, but there's no guarantee that'll work, either. Seems that once you hit a certain glitch in their system, you end up locked out forever. I've tried for two weeks to get them to address the problem, to no avail. So far I have been able to send and receive PMs, at least for now. Anyway, I just tried to start one more thread, knowing it wouldn't go through (and it didn't).....and here it is:

"I have a problem with your website that we've been working on for the past couple weeks. I asserted that you had no moderator on the forum and even if a post is held for moderation, it would never appear, since no one who *****isters or moderates the forum ever posts any of those that are held for moderation. You insist that there IS a moderator and told me to give the moderator 24 hours to review a post, indicating to me that it would be posted sometime in that period. Well, there are two posts made over 48 hours ago, with no action on your part. I even sent you an email tellling you that I posted these and that they are awaiting moderation, and that I would do it your way and wait the 24 hours. You know I sent that email, because you responded to it. And guess what.....the posts have never showed up. So where's the moderator? You people are so ashamed of your performance that you even blank out the word A-D-M-I-N!!

"I assert again, you have a forum here that doesn't work as it should, and no one on your end seems to give a rip. A forum user is not able to contact you via the "contact us" feature, always getting the response that the request cannot be sent due to a "missing security token." That problem has been around for well over 2 years. You also have a problem with the search feature that you've known about for over 18 months, yet you don't care enough to fix that, either. When, after several hours of research and phone calls, I finally reached you who run this forum, you claim that I'm the only one having any of these problems. I can assure you, that is not the case. a number of people have encountered the search feature problem, and also have indicated that they are unable to report a problem to the A-D-M-I-N-I-S-T-R-A-T-O-R because of the missing security token. Well, this post will surely be held up also, "awaiting moderation," which means it will never see the light of day. Which also means, I probably won't be participating in this forum any longer. Maybe someday you will show some interest, but I'm tired of fighting the situation."

So it's been a pleasure working with you folks..... if you don't see me around, you know why.

must be restricted to his account status or maybe a browser issue thing because I have never had any issue posting on the forum.

I don't know what browser he uses or any methods he tried to test out other browsers.

I was banned from another non-boating forum for bringing up issues with the websites software that did not function correctly (post edit features, basic search functions, and constant website crashes for hour long periods) so maybe that's what they did to him? who knows.

in my case the guy running the website wrote his own software (or a family member did) and he didn't want to hear talk about his software coding skills didn't work

hopefully this gets resolved but it does sound like he is letting his frustrations take over about this

I do know you cant post a bunch of links in any post or it will block it from being posted if that is what he is talking about. im not sure the limit but I think if you post more then two links it gets blocked (must be an anti spam trigger thing)

Mike has attempted to get the issue sorted and no joy.

This site needs some stronger *****/moderator focus to address issues.

When long standing, senior members who regularly participate to share their knowledge and experience end up banging their heads against unresponsive walls, it is time someone in a position to do so paid some attention to the forum!!!

I would love to get a sticky up with downloadable copies of all the NMEA2000 software update files there and have requested assistance to get that happening but have run into a wall of apathy too.

Come on Suzuki forum *****, get this sorted for Mike!!!

Would it help to have more moderators?

I didn't know that you, boats.net, were the moderator of this forum. Most forum in which I participate have several moderators. You might consider doing the same. there are three or four of us who are on the site quite often, and I'm sure that some of us (I, for one) could help you with the task of moderating what goes on. You lay out the rules, we implement....

          Think about it.....
