quick question I apologize if im in the wrong area. I'm new to the site done some reading but havnt found what I am looking for.

I have a 1987 suzuki dt55, the lower unit is intact and works fine. I found a 1993 motor and the lower unit is screwed, I'm wondering if the one off my older engine will work ok. everything looks identical except i don't have the power trim button on the side of the older motor.

any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you

should also add that im not definitive on the years. my question should have been are parts interchangeable between newer and older models

if the part numbers for the lower unit housing shell are the same then it should work

if the part numbers for the lower unit housing shell are the same then I think it should work but be aware the gearing might be different

just look it up, they have parts lists for all motors by year and model so even though you aren't sure of the year they will usually show a list of all motors that part fits

            see here: http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/su...95330-0ED.html

looks like it fits 85-97 years dt55/dt65 motors so the gearing might even be the same on all years

just look for the parts suppliers, they all have the same exploded parts pictures showing the parts so you can find what you need.

that's all different each time but use lots of solvent to soak the bolts and get some of that corrosion loosened up

I would think so and sometimes you have to carefully drill out the bolts being exactly in the center and go bigger until only the threads are left then use a tap to clean out the threads.

if you mess it up or if its really bad, you can buy a replacement used midsection from one of the used part dealers on ebay. that would be your backup plan
