I recently purchased a SDS Harness kit with software. I would like to read all engine diagnostic codes, after our 2004 DF140 recently shut off while under WOT and was unable to restart motor. I also purchased 09932-89920 "sub adapter" in case it was needed. My father and brother went to the Marina yesterday with laptop in hand, to try and hook up harness and see it they could get the SDS to work, but was to no avail. The software could not communicate between PC and ECM. Our boat runs all analog gauges and no NMEA or SMIS network, so I thought it would be a pretty simple plug and play setup. The first picture below shows the short cable, round connector to square 4 pin connector. Is this only needed for 2008 and newer Suzukis?, would that be needed as a jumper shown in this picture below? I cannot find this 4 pin plug on our 2004 df140 motor. When the ignition switch is turned on the blue light on the obd II cable lights blue, but the computer is not recognizing the hardware, as no "New Hardware "Wizard" page is opened installing it on computer. I have a feeling I do not have the cable installed correctly. Any help greatly appreciated.
