  • fuel or coil or somethine electrical?

i have a 1999 2stroke suzuki 75hp outboard, 3 times in past year ive had problems which a mechanic says is carb issues with dirt...i have done everything as far as replacing, theres nothing thats not new including a new fuel tank, when the filter under the hood was cleaned by me theres nothing in it? im starting to believe i have a intermitten coil or other electrical issue? it loses power(drops a cylinder or 2 at full speed )then within a few minutes picks back up again? any ideas anyone would be appreciated, motor is a 1999 but has very low hours on it, its very clean, and cosmetically perfect cond. thanks, redman662

    dt75 running issues

If it seems to cut out, it may be. Does this happen only at full throttle? Or is it most noticeable then? It does sound electrical, but could be related to coils in the magneto. If you have a service Manuel start testing as the Manuel says.
If your mechanic was qualified, he should have tested those items.
So it may be up to you. Good luck, and keep us posted on what you find.
The latest parts pic I could find was '97 dt75. If is intermittent, and only at high speeds, it could be hard to locate the problem. You have 3 timing coils, a counting coil, 3 plug coils, and capacitor charging coil. If only one plug miss-fires, it could be that plug coil, or the timing coil, if more than one miss-fires, it could be three counting coil, or the capacitor charging coil? And check the magnets under the flywheel.
    He this helps.
