  • 2008 DF115 Suzuki no crank

The harness coming from my ignition switch and plugs into the main harness has a bad connection ...I need to know if the brown wire which is the crank wire turns hot when the key is turned to start or does it just compete a circuit.

    Thanks Ray

buy you a Suzuki service manual for it and it will give you the info.

you can buy most them online download for just a few dollars or check ebay if you want the paper booklet for it

then look at the wiring diagram, it shows which wires get power in what switch position

if you have a solec or clymers manual they are only good to show how to take apart things but may not show something like this.

the factory service manuals do show a lot more and in more detail that's why I never recommend anyone buy anything but a factory service manual

I had this problem last year. in the main harness front section , find where the harness branches into two pieces. the section that plugs into the ignition needs to get opened up right near the junction or branch. I found two crimped connectors in the harness that have 2 wires in and one out. had a bad connection there ,repaired it and done. try it , good luck. 2007 df 175

Thanks the service manual I have is a factory service manual and it shows the brown wire as the start wire . The reason I ask the question does the brown wire get power or ground is I know that sometimes the ECM will provide ground to complete a circuit .And to get the bad connection to act up is very diffiucult but I have it in that mode now and I want to probe the brown wire and turn the key to start on the other side of that plug . This is why I sent this question to ask the experts

I did not find it until I opened the harness . the bad 2 into 1 connector was intermittent and was cutting out power to the brown wire.

if nothing shows up and its intermittent look for failure at that connection.

just trying to give advise for a similar problem that drove me crazy/

              good luck

                Found the problem

It was in the plug that the ignition wires plug into .A bad connection on the female side of the plug on the brown wire

                Thanks for the help Ray
