  • Help with smis fuel flow

I'm showing fuel burn of 157 GPH at idle on port engine and starboard is normal at about .5 GPH. Can anyone help me get this back to normal? Also my fuel remaining never moves and blinks constantly. Engines are 2010 df300's. Thanks

Have you changed something in the network recently or is it a new network installation?

Because the symptoms you are having are 100% classic of a conflict between the engine interface cable software and the engine ecu. It is a bit strange that one interface (starbord) obviously has a campatible version but the port one doesnt - which is why i asked if you have changed something recently - ie the interface cable??

The solution however is simple: You need to update the interface software on the port engine interface cable to version 2.8.0. Your Suzuki dealer can do this for you. Or, you can do it yourself if you have a Lowrance HDS or Simrad NSS display on your network. PM me and I can send you the software update file and instructions on how to upload and configure it if you want to go that way.

    Cheers

Also rgarding the fuel remaining issue, my money would be on the incorrect data source being selected. Probably selected as fuel level at the moment and it is trying to find fuel level from a tank sender unit that is not connected.

To get the display to show fuel remaining as calculated you need to select the engine interface as the data source for fuel remaining. Fo into the SMIs menu, data sources, fuel and ypu should be able to figure it out from there.

You have set up fuel tank sizes etc in the network configuration I imagine?

Thanks for the info moonlighter. The fuel flow was working until I accidentally re calibrated the port engine. As far as the fuel remaining goes I had the dealer set up the fuel level sensor. It worked for a couple weeks and then just stopped. The dealer set up my tank with the wrong (250 gallons instead of 200 gallons) info so I changed it.

Ok, if it was accurate beforehand and no new cable etc has been installed, it is probably just that the port interface cable's configuration settings have been lost.

You should go into the SMIS network page, device list, and check that the engine year and hp are set correctly for the port engine interface. It may have reverted to a DF40 which is the default setting. Thus the crazy fuel flow readings.

Check that out and reset it to correct hp and year, and then start it up on the muffs and check the fuel flow at idle and compare to the starboard engine.

If that doesn't fix it you might need to do the software update as mentioned in my earlier post.
