Mystery part found in motor.

Hi all,
I was just de-winterizing my 1998 Suzuki outboard (85 hp), and found the piece in the picture. It was sitting in the bottom of the outboard engine case. I have zero idea what it is. The black tube is threaded, so it seems important. I was about to take the boat over to a lake for a trial run, but now I'm going to wait until I here what this forum has to say.

from the looks of it, if it was just laying inside the motor side covers then it should be for one of the linkages

if its magnetic then its just a lost grab it tool someone dropped

I don't see anything in your motors parts diagram that looks remotely like that part could be for

mystery part...

I would say this part is the plunger-rod that is part of the electric choke which should be inside the coil for the electric choke. And should be attached to the choke linkage on the carbs.
