  • 2006 Suzuki 4stroke 115hp temp light & 3 sec beep warning

Day 1 back in the water: Boat runs fine, no problems

Day 2: boat cranks fine, fuel level low, oil level good, battery good, water peeing out great, as im about to pull away from the dock the engine throttles back temp light comes on with a warning beep every 3 seconds. I cut engine off believing it is bad fuel. After replacing fuel & getting new water/fuel separator I run engine for a while to clear fuel, engine (only after restarting) eventually straightens out..runs great, idles normal, no temp light & no warning beep.

Day 3: Cold engine, switch key to on position and get the test beep then temp light comes on again with the beep every 3 secs...engine has not been cranked in a day and still got this warning? Wife's sister coming in this weekend and wife is driving me bonkers so any help is greatly appreciated.

cant say this applies but I had a battery going out and I never got a battery light but I did get strange "phantom" beep codes with no explanation then suddenly one day it wouldn't turn over, battery was dead.

don't know how old your starter battery is but these suzukis are mad finaky about having strong fully charged batteries in order to work right. after I replaced the bad battery I had no more "phantom" codes that had plagued me off and on for months

I put charger on it yesterday and it had 90%+ charge so I don't think it's the battery. I'm at a loss probably going to have to get it looked at

it could have a bad cell and that would not let full amps flow while it is still showing good voltage and not needing a charge.

I hate to say spend money on a mechanic, I would replace the temp sensor first since its still going off with a cold engine then see what happens, if that doesn't fix it then bring it in

I'm getting it looked at on Tuesday. I will try changing out the battery first(as I've been looking to upgrade the battery anyways)...also, as I was trailerin the boat I had a steering hydraulic line start to leak...probably unrelated but I'm hoping to put a new one on before the mechanic comes..stay tuned
