  • DT 150 - High Oil Consumption

I have a 1999 DT 150 with 475hrs. On a recent trip, we burned 50 gallons of gas and used almost 2 gallons of oil.

This is twice as much as it should use. I am concerned that, at some point, it could inject too little oil since there is an obvious malfunction. Any ideas? Thanks!

Could be a bad oil pump, pump may have a seal leaking in back of pump. Check the oil pump link arm is connected and not broken.

Fuel pump? Don't you mean oil pump instead?

I know this post is a little old but did you find out what the problem is? I have a leak in either my pump seal or one of the hoses on the pressure side. After I run the motor, I have oil sitting in the lower cowling and it runs out and down the side of the shaft housing. It's not mixed with gas and I've ruled out my oil tank being the source. It's not near enough to have to use two gallons to a tank though. You must have a leak though because that much oil would foul the plugs quick and smoke horribly.
