I have a 2001 df15 that will not turn over. I can not pull start it which has me worried. It ran 8 months ago but it was running rough. I'm not sure what could be causing this problem or what to check. Any ideas.
My kicker is a Merc. 9.9
Once in a while it in have had a similar experience
I think it is in the mechanism that prevents it from starting when it is in gear
Something is hanging up
Usually moving the shifter from froward to reverse a few time clears this
I guess the very first thing to do is remove the cowling and have a good look as you slowly pull the starter cord, after that, try to turn the flywheel a bit by hand to make sure it is not seized, pull the dipstick and see if the oil is still OK (or if there is any)
Not sure if yours is a carb model, but running rough usually means dirty carb(s)? Could you have gummed up fuel after 8 months sitting? I'd pull off the carb and give it a good cleaning. If it's fuel injected, scratch the above... Just got my first EFI motor.
