  • DF115 vs DF140 Head Swap Question

Recently purchased as DF140 head as a replacement for a DF115 (05's). The only measured differences I can find between the two is cam height. The DF140 has approx. .0197 more height than the DF115. All of the rest of the characteristics are the same. Will I be setting myself for a lean/rich condition and possibly toasting a cylinder by not swapping out the cams back to the DF115 size? Machinist says the higher opening will not case a problem.

    > Cam height, I/E valves, springs, journal size, cyl head bore to tappet clearance, fuel injector, same castings numbers (90J03)

    Factory Cam Specs

    > DF115 I/E (STD) is 38.820 – 38.980mm (1.5283-1.5346)

    >DF140 I height is 39.520-39.680 (1.5560-1.5622) and E is 39.320-39.480 (1.548-1.5543

    Nauticdog,

    I have had 07's & 08 models of of the 115 and 140 hp.
I crack a head on the 115hp, and had a 140 in peace waiting for parts, so i used the good 140 head and swap it onto the 115 engine, she is running fine and it has been over 12 month since i did the swap.

Only other issue you might want to look at is the ECM, as time etc can be just off for the different heads. i have to check my record to see if i swapped out the ECM too on my engine. but don't think i did.
