Looking for help with my 1987 DT 30 2 stroke outboard.
Starts up on choke, runs great between 8-22 mph but when I reduce speed to idle or just in gear it dies and takes 20 minutes to restart. Usually coughs a lot once it dies and backfires.
So far I started with new fuel, new plugs, changed the fuel lines and primer ball. Also, made some slight adjustments to the pilot screws and idle on the carb- no luck.
I was thinking about changing the mechanic fuel pump next?
Anyone have the same issue or have suggestions?
Thank you for reading.
