I have 1988 115 horsepower Suzuki outboard that has a vacuum hose that enters the lower unit. My question is what is it for and what part is it. it is broken and I don't know if it is safe to operate the engine without being repaired
It is most likely speedometer hose , it should continue up the lower unit and come out under engine and continue to speedometer . If I was not going to use speedometer I would fold hose over and put a zip tie on it to keep water from spraying inside lower housing
