dt85 starter issue

G'day,

I have a DT85 2stroke motor 1997. I have a issue with starter. When i turn key the starter motor engages but bearly turns the motor over once!! The motor works fine when i pull start it and i have tryed different batteries too so its not a battery issue. The starter motor is only a year old but the boat had been parked up for 4 months with out been starter. Any ideas where to check next? Is it safe to bypass solinoid and connect power directly to see will starter work ?

Check battery cables, run a load test on cables to see if loosing voltage.
