  • LMF-400 Suzuki 4" Multi-Function Gauge Problem

My gauge just shows a slow blinking Suzuki "S" and there is no response to any buttons. It was working fine before and no connection changes were made before it stopped working. It obviously has power to it but shows no other information. Any ideas?

I can't find any information that addresses this. From my own experience with different electronics devices, I would disconnect from the NMEA 2000 backbone for a few minutes, then reconnect and see if it will reset and function properly. I have a feeling that probably won't help, since it is removed from any power when the switch is off, but hell, anything's worth a try. If it continues, I think you'd have to assume that the gauge is kaput.

Thee is a way to "reboot" those gauges.

Would definitely be worth a try.

Jump onto Lowrance's website and look for "reset" options for their gear, or alternatively give their customer service people a call and they will tell you what to do.

It could also be a cable or t piece gone bad as well, if the reset doesn't work. Unplug the t piece its connected to, clean contacts with electronic cleaner spray, and try again. Maybe swap T pieces with something else. All simple things that don't take much time and are worth a go before you bin it.

Aha! Good info, Grant (Moonlighter is our resident "expert" on the Lowrance/SMIS systems). Here's how the Lowrance website says to do a hard reset on the LMF-400 (It would be nice if they had included this procedure in the manual that came with the gauge):

        LMF 400 Reset
        1. Turn Unit off
        2. Press and hold the DOWN button
        3. Turn unit on (activate power to NMEA network or connect unit to operating network)
        4. Release DOWN Button after Test screen appears.
        5. Turn unit off (disconnect power to NMEA 2000 network or remove unit from network)

This reset will wipe out anything you've done to configure your gauge, custom pages, contrast, backlighting, etc. and defaults it all back to the original settings. Good luck. Please let us know if it gets your gauge working again.
