I wouldn't rush to purchase a VST assembly quite yet. I'd clean it out good and change out the high pressure fuel filter, which is the black canister just above the VST. Id also dump and check the low pressure fuel filter. The fuel pump screen and HP fuel filter should have protected the injectors and hopefully the HP pump. Although it sounds like an ethanol related issue and phase separation wreaks havoc on the HP pump.
