Correct Prop? - Mako 21B & DF175

I am a new member but have learned so much from all of you guys on the Zukes, NMEA 2000, etc. I am re-powering my 1986 Mako 21B with the DF175. I have seen where several folks have done this and would love to know which prop they ended up with. I could not find a thread. Thanks for the help!

I run my 175 on a 21 ft North River
Had to replace my prop about a year ago
If I attached photo correctly this is the one I use which has worked extremely well for me

I have a DF150, on a Triumph 195CC. Boat is slightly smaller than your Mako, 19 ft hull, 8' beam, 14" draft, 16° deadrise, weighs 2000 lbs without the motor. I'm running a Suzuki stainless steel 3 blade 16" diameter, 18 1/2 pitch prop. Seems about perfect for my boat. Planes in about 3-4 seconds, tops out around 40 @ 5800 RPM with the normal load.

Have you had a chance to run the 175 on your Mako 21B? I have a 1983 Mako 224 (I believe the 224 is a similar hull to the 21B) and am trying to decide between the Yamaha F200 (4 cyl.) and the Suzuki 175 (4 cyl.) and I am curious as to how the 21B runs with the Suzuki 175. My concern is that the 175 may not be enough for the 224 hull.

FYI...I repowered a 218 sailfsh with a 175 zuk after original power of 200 hpdi yami. Dropped a few mph top end but definitely not underpowered with the 175 Suzuki. I would not say I have a fast boat but I would not say I have a slow boat. Top end with light load is 41-42mph. Average fuel burn at cruise is 3.5 mpg. Overall, very very pleased with the Suzuki df175. Would buy again no questions asked.

So far I am impressed with the Zuke 175 but will be evaluating props this weekend.

175Sailfish- what prop did you end up with and did you try a 16" dia prop?

Started with stock zuk 16 x 20. Tried Merc rev 4 21 pitch and 23 pitch. Went back to the zuk 16 x 20. It's the best overall prop for my setup.

I have a DF 175 and have done extensive prop testing, and for some reason the 16" diameter props perform best on these engines. The Powertech 16" diameter props perform a tad better being they have a good bit more cup.

I ended up with a Powertech 3x16x20 and am very happy! WOT throttle hits 5850-5900 rpms at 40mph burning 15.5gph.

Slow cruise at 3800rpms goes 23mph burning almost 6gph.
faster cruise at 4300rpms goes 30mph burning about 8gph.

these are from memory since i do not have my notes. As a reference, the 1993 Yami 225hp I replaced was most efficient at a 4000rpm cruise going 23mph burning 11-12gph.
