  • 2004 Suzuki Df140 losing oil

    Hey
The DF140 is losing oil at the rate of approx. one quart per hour. Just pulled the powerhead and not the base gasket nor the engine holder gasket. There in no water in the oil. The oil is just leaving the motor Thanks in advance.

Have a leak down test run on engine to see if rings are sealing.

Your oil cooler is probably corroded and letting oil into the water, the tell tale sign is an oily film on the water. Stick your finger in and around the prop if it is the oil cooler there will be oil all around it. Because the oil pressure is higher than water pressure it will leak into water chamber and out of the exhaust with the water.
