DF70- No tell tale

I recently bought a 2004 DF70. I've been flushing out my motor using the flush mounts on the side with out running the engine. I got a pair of muffs and went to flush out the motor running on idle and I did not get a stream of water coming from the tell tale. Does the tell tale have to be opened or is it possible clogged. I ran it for a good hour or so and never an alarm or high temp light. Any suggestions or advice? Thanks in advance.

That stream is there to show you water is circulating through the engine. No water coming out could mean a problem or just that the line is clogged. If the line is clogged, the motor will still be fine. Take a heavy piece of weed eater string and run it up the hole as far as you can. There is probably a blockage in there. I had a dirt dobber build a nest in mine recently and had to run something up there to clear it out.
