2001 df70 trim issues

I was rear ended towing my boat,bent skeg and trim cylinder only obvious damage.The fluid was already contaminated with water.The mechanic completely replaced the trim cylinder and power unit and disassembled and cleaned the pump assembly.Now the engine lowers fine but lifting starts slow,has to be manually assisted in the middle, and then speeds up at the top.There is no air in the system.Is it possible that the impact (not violent, 3-5 mph) could have broken or loosened components.

I guide out of boat and have already lost a month of use so any help would be greatly appreciated
