Suzuki DT225 goes into guardian mode

I have a 2001 225 it sat for two years before I bought it. It has new gas, filter,plugs, water separator ran well for about an hour. It went into guardian mode limped back to dock 2 hours later worked good again for about ten min but only 4600 rpm like the first hour. Then guardian mode new thermostats checked for overheating barley warm. It seemed like after longer periods of time it runs again but for shorter times once about 12 then ten min now about 2-5 min. I heard it might be stator pulse charge coils or cdi. The port side goes dead no spark number 6 is intermittent before it goes dead. What controls guardian mode/ what part does the sensor speak to. How can I trouble shoot this. What parts do I need. Appreciate the help.

I was also told there might be faulty grounds that could cause it.

I read seals223c post mine seems to be ok then something goes bad and it takes some time to a few days to reset

Are you fuel injected or carbs...Guardian mode is exactly 3000 rpm ..and the computer should lite a failure light and buzzer. See this link.. http://www.suzukioutboardforum.com/s...ing-speed.html
