2012 6hp outboard

Had a bit of a strange experience with my outboard last night, first of all it would only run with coke fully open even after warming up if I tried to shut it the engine would cutout, this went on for a good 3 hours, after 3 hours the engine started to start as it should coke in, the boat is used for trolling so normally run just past the coke mark on the tiller arm, but if you open her up, after a couple of min it cuts out, starts fine then troll and you could troll at that speed all day with no prob but the min I open her up it cuts out
Any advice would be very grateful
