I have a 06 df175, when I give it full throttle it will take off and plane out, run for about 2 or three hundred yards then start losing power. It wont die and if I let it idle for a few seconds it will take off and plane out again for a few hundred yards again. Mechanic told me that 9 out of 10 times it is the fuel pump. So I changed it, and lucky me, I am the 1 out of 10 that it was not the problem. Any ideas would be great.

Check your fuel tank venting, make sure you are not creating negative pressure in the tank. Check the filters, both high pressure and low pressure. Check the screen in the VST. See if the primer bulb is still firm or if it collapses when the engine acts up. Check to see if you have a large fuel/water separator filter mounted inline between the tank and the engine, and make sure it's also not clogged. Check all you fuel lines for integrity, no soft or mushy areas. I don't understand your mechanic's advice, if he didn't mention checking all these things first. Did he by chance sell you the pump? If so, then I do understand his advice, and so now should you.Mike
