DT40MC/CR Motor dies after engaging throttle

I just fired up the motor for the first time this year, it wouldn't start well or idol properly once started. I emptied the tank, put in fresh gas and a new spark plug. It then started great, and ran perfectly for an hour.

I was headed back home, at probably 85% of top speed and the motor died while cruising. It will start right back up, and will idle properly in forward, revers and neutral. When I give it throttle in either forward or reverse it dies.

Anyone have any help or suggestions?

i would take the carb off and clean it. had a simular problem and that took care of it...
