250 ptt motor problem

I have a 2007 250 and the ptt doesn't operate when key is off and sometimes while at idle. While underway and making 13.5 volts it works but is very slow and sounds like marbles in a blender. It also knocks rpms on effected engine down about 800 rpms. I've checked fluid, put a meter to relay and both are good. Is there anything else to check before tearing into it and replacing motor.

I ran wires direct from battery to motor, it worked slowly and wires got really hot really fast.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Sounds like the motor is drawing too much current.

Get a DC ampmeter and check the to see many amps the motor draw in both the up and down direction. The upper direction will draw much higher amperage.
