I have a 1999 Suzuki DT115. The manual does not specify using any gasket sealing compound on the water pump gasket. My Evinrude 90hp manual specifies it. Would it help or hurt? I usually use a very light coat of aviation gasket sealer on these gaskets, as well as on bolt threads.
Also, this particular Suzuki uses a solid SS pump housing. Should I use any sealer between the metal to metal of the housing to plate surface? Evinrude was different- a plastic housing with ss insert cup, with an O-ring between housing and plate. Perhaps a good seal is not as important above the plate, being the pressure side, but is more critical below the plate because its the vacuum side? Only guessing.
