    Hi everyone

I'm new to the Suzuki outboards. Somewhat of a novice all together when it comes to outboard engines. I bought an 86 stratos 189v with the 150 ss. It hadn't ran for a few years and I got it started. There are two issues that I ran into.

One being that the trim is a hit or miss. Sometimes works and sometimes not. My question is can I take apart the two relays and clean hem or do I have to buy new ones? They don't seem to one apart. I know that the relays can be an issue with the trim.

Second, when I finally got it running both the overheat alarms went off on both sides immediately. I let it run for a bit and no change. The next week I got it running and only the right alarm went off immediately. I felt both heads and the left felt cooler. I could hold my hand on both but only for a few seconds on the right head. Could it be debris clogging up? Impeller?

Again I am a novice so bare with me. Thanks in advance

well i checked the wires going into the relay and all are reading 12 volts. i did some research and found that the relay switch should make a noise when trying to work the trim and i dont hear anything. Must be bad relays i guess

A little update. I bought new relays, not sure if that was the entire problem but now I can hook it up to a 12v source and it works up and down. But when I have the blue and pink wire plugged into what looks like s metal electrical connection nothing works. Checked the fuse and it was good. I'm really not sure on what to do.

Also I bought an impeller kit. I know it's the 6 bolts on the lower unit but do I need to do anything special with the linkage to take the lower unit off?

If have relays hooked like original ones were then then to check to see if have 12 volts coming from trim when switch is activated.
