Manufacture date vs. serial number

Hello everyone, this is my first post so bare with me. Recently bought a Mako 171 with a DF90 on it. Knew when boat and motor was bought and was told it was an 2008 motor and boat. Upon inspection the maufacture date says 11/06 but serial number 09001F-782079 says it is actually an 2009.I am assuming the first part of serial number indicates the year as there were no "K" letter to indiacte year which should mean it is later than an '07. Only found one thread close but no direct answer to my question. Thanks!!!!!!

Local dealer gave me the rest of the model number DF90TLK7 which was no where to be found on motor. Didn't realize they were a Suzuki service center so two problems solved.
