1986 DT115 2-stroke idle problems after warmup

I bought my first boat impulsively, and I'm paying for a bit now. I hope someone can help me figure out these engine problems so I can actually enjoy my investment...

Anyhow, engine performance is lacking. The engine idles poorly, and it deteriorates over time. It starts out strong and idling rather smoothly, but after about 10 minutes it really starts to hiccup badly. The last time I took her out the engine stalled while idling to the ramp. It was a bit embarrassing. Also, fuel leaks from the carbs... which I'm assuming is not supposed to happen...

Any ideas?

Souds like like it may be lean popping, would need to remove and clean carbs and resync linkage.

Well I'm back to provide more info. After being chastized by everyone that has ever owned a boat, they convinced me that I needed to check the compression pressure of my cylinders. 140 across all four. Okay, great... so no where do I go? Why isn't my outboard running smooth?
