DF50 no indicator lamps on ignition

I have suzuki df50 outboard, when I turn the ignition on only one lamp on the tacho lights up (the limit lamp) and I get a short beep. The other 3 lights don't light up, and the hours indicated by the needle doesnt work or the gauge illumination. The engine does turnover. Does anyone know what the cause is? The manual just says contact a dealer. Since it was last working properly all I have done is change a fuel gauge, but this was identical wiring so can't understand what's causing the problem. Thanks

Check wiring to gauge to make sure nothing got unplugged.
