Trim guage sender 1983

Hi, anyone know how the trim guage sender on a 1983 DT115 works? It doesn't seem to be a straight forward potentiometer, since it has four wires and not 3. black, green, pink, and orange. Also, can I use it with a yamaha trim guage? The guage has two wiring harnesses. One has blue, black and yellow, and the other has orange, pink, black and grey. Thanks for any help.

Nevermind, I came right, it works. In case anyone needs to do this in future, here is the correct setup: Pink to Pink, orange to orange, black to black, grey to green, and then the yellow and black on the meter needs 12V supply, the blue on the meter is for the back up light.
