That engines range is 5300-5800 rpm's, if it has an alum prop on it now then probably go with a 12 or 13 pitch SS prop

Correct RPM is important.
I think that 30 mph is all you are going to get on the top end. I had a 2001 DF70 on my 18' Maritime Skiff - 30-31 mph was the abosolute top end..
in 2011 - I upgraded to a 2010 DF90a - now my top end is 38-39 mph @ 5800 rpm.
It took a few differnt props until I got the right size on her.
If your @ 6000 rpm with the 13" prop - you are over reving it....you need to increase the pitch of the propeller.
14" sounds right to me : should put you @ 5800 rpm.
~Increasing the pitch increment by 1" will result in approximately 200 RPM drop.
~Decreasing pitch would increase your RPM by approximately 200 Rpm.
