  • DF300 Thermostat Selection

My 2007 DF300, run in salt water in NJ, started out with 140 degree thermostats (17670-90J00) and I switched to the 160 degree thermostats in 2010 after my mechanic said that was Suzuki's recommendation. However, he could not explain why, and I have seen various discussions of which one is preferred (fresh vs salt water, hot climates vs cool climates, engine runs better hotter, etc.). I seem to be running pretty hot (160-180 degrees) and would like to know the criteria for which thermostat to use. Thanks, Ken.

      DF300 Thermostats

The engine is not making oil, never has, after 950 hours.
