I have a 2002 suzuki df 140, and I need to replace a drive shaft collar. I am trying to find out if this is something I, being reasonably mechanical can change myself. I already have the lower unit off, just don't want to get in over my head. Can anyone provide any assistance on how best to get the old collar out and a new one in? Thanks for your time. Happy Holidays

If it's the drive shaft bushing in upper haousing then will need to remove snap ring and pull bushing out with a small jawed slide hammer.

Thank you for your responce. When I pull the bushing out will any other washers fall out or are they held in with another snap ring or equivalent? Also, I assume the new bushing gets tapped in with a socket or something flat that I can tap it in with?

I have received the collar that I ordered from boats.net and it's not exactly like the original. THe one in the upper unit is a black rubber compound with a wire running through it with the center hole being just slightly bigger that the drive shaft. THe new part is a white hard plastic ribbed collar with the center hole being larger than the drive shaft. The numbers on the part look correct. Is it possible that they changed/improved the part? Thank you! Todd
