Hello,
I bought a brand new 2010 Suzuki DF60A about 16 months ago. It runs perfectly at sea level, but every time I take it inland above 340m (1,115') it has no power, and won't rev beyond 4,000rpm.
I've taken the motor back to the dealer three times, and they keep saying the tests they have run show that there is nothing wrong with it at all. However, I know there is a definite problem with the motor, because the power deficiency has occurred on four separate occasions, several months apart and at dams at various altitudes – from 340m (1,115') to 1,100m (3,610').
The dealer basically implied that the problem was in my head, or due to operational error on my part. However, each time I was at altitude, I ran the boat exactly as I would at sea level. I also tested the boat without any weight in it, and it behaved in exactly the same way (still wouldn't rev over 4,000rpm). I also ran the motor with a smaller pitched prop, which had no effect.
Straight after returning from each trip, I took the boat for a run on the ocean, and it would be perfectly fine again, running to 6,200rpm.
I am planning to take the motor to a different dealer, and want to know what I should ask them to check. Ideas, anyone?
