I'm having a 3-1 code come up. What code is this or where can I a list of the codes?

Thanks Tango1. My mechanic called last night with it being fixed. How serious is this problem if it happens again? It flash the code bout 5 times then clear it self for bout 15-20 minutes before going off again. Motors were bought new in 05. Going on 7 years of service with only one other problem, not counting a factory recall. They have been great motors.

Please let me know if they fix it. Im having the same code come up on my 2004 DF 250. The dealer changed the IAC 2 months ago and i have had the code come up on my last 2 trips out. The engine will run fine for a while then stall, the code then comes up. The engine will not start in neutral. It will start out of gear but when you pull it back to neutral it will again stall. Wait about a half hour and you can get it to run but with the 3-1 code still present. The dealer has put it on the computer and said that the code is not showing up. I went out the next day and the code was clear for the first hour and then it returned while trolling. Any advice is welcome.

What you are discribing is the IAC actuator failing. I went through this a couple of times and the biggest problem I had was unqualified Suzuki techs tinkering with throtle stops and other things trying to solve the problem. All of the techs that failed would clear the IAC code and go to turning screws and changing filters. I even had one guy tell me he changed out my IAC and when I asked him to give me the old part the story changed to I "cleaned out" the IAC.

Bottom line. I it codes its either gone or going..... change it out without touching anything else. If it's too late for that.... find service center who knows what they're doing. I nearly gave up on Suzuki until I found a good service center. Now I'm happier than I've ever been. It's the Maytag repairman syndrome....

Check the adjustment of the neutral switch and your closed throtle switch.

Tango1, I pulled the IAC valve out and cleaned it and the port with for carb cleaner. I let the valve air dry and installed it. Filled a drum of water with the motor and let it run bout 20 minutes. The codes cleared themselves and never came back on. I have ordered a new IAC and planning on having it installed tomorrow with a full run test. I ordered the part from my local CarQuest and I got it a lot cheaper than anything I saw on the internet. Will update my findings later.

I take it you can order the same IAC used in a Suzuki car? It makes sense but I wish I would have figured that out if thats the case.

kmoose, I got the part number off another marine parts site and the book. Gave it to my salesman with Carquest and he told me that I had a good part number. We went from there. One of my local Carquest branches carries different marine parts. He sales a fair amount of marine products. He fishes offshore as well. When I googled the part number, Carquest came with as one of the searches. I saved a lot by going with Carquest.

Thanks for the info. It seems the IAC is one of the most common trouble makers for the big df series motors. I'm considering a spare.
