1987 DT 140 carbs

How hard is it to take off the carbs? I have the manual but it doesn't tell what to disconnect.

It is not hard, undue all fuel lines to the carb, cover, and remove carb nuts. Carbs should pull off.

Thanks for getting back to me. do I just snap off the linkage from the carbs and after I clean them, what adjustments do I make. I will be careful not to touch any screws for mixture

You should remove the mixture screws for proper cleaning. Yes linkages snap off. Start with 1-1.5 turns out on the mixture screws then adjust from there.
