I have a 5 year old suzuki df150outboard with 500 hours. It has a "top mount" type throttle handle. For the last several years I've been experiencing starting problems which seem to be related to the engine thinking its in gear so no power goes to turning the motor over. If I jiggle the throttle lever from neutral then into gear and back to the neutral position it seems to fix the problem most of the time. However, the problem is becoming more persistant. My guess is the linkage is sticking and/or the throttle tension adjustment is too tight. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?
