I was out running the boat yesterday going in a bay with a decent chop. I killed the engine and fished an area for a few minutes and when I went to turn the key, the motor wouldn't turn over. I got my loud pre-crank "chirp", my gauges worked, and there was a quiet high pitched sound coming from the enigine (I assume the fuel pump), but the starter would not activate. I jiggled wires from the ignition and kill switch, but nothing. We located a fuse panel under the hood, pulled them out for inspection and put them back in and it fired right up (thank God as we were in no man's land).
2 questions. Does this fuse panel indeed control the starter motor? And also, where can I get an emergency pull rope for my motor?
Any advice and help will be greatly appreciated.
