1999 Suzuki DF70 tilt and trim problem

My PTT works going up but won't go down. I think it may be the relay. Can I test the relay by switching the blue and green wires to see if it then goes down and not up. I think it is # 8 on the diagram of this link. http://www.polarispartshouse.net/pag...4%2f5611610034

I will greatly appreciate anyone's help on this problem.

Yes that should work for testing the motor.

thanx, I switched the wires and the engine went down. I will presume that the down relay is defective. Too bad the manual didn't suggest this trick. Maybe others can benefit from this info. Also, when the engine first starts lifting or lowering, there is a sputtering sound. Is this air in the line and what do I do about it?

That could be air in unit, fill with fluid and open manual release screw, allow motor to go all the way down, raise motor back up by hand recheck fluid and tighten manual release screw and retry.
