Df 225 check engine problem?

I've got twin 225's and yesterday I went to start the port motor and when I turned the key over...nothing happened and the check engine alarm sounded with 4 beeps.
Raised and lowered the legs once than turned the key over and it started but the check engine code came on than disappeared from the gauge a few moments later.
Ran the motor for an hour or so with no problems
What was the problem?
