  • DF60 suzuki several problems

    Hello,

I just bought a used DF60 and tried to run it yesterday first time. Result see : http://www.regio.com/df60.mp4

    Some remarks:
    - the engine sound which you can hear at the very beginning comes
from the car behind which is idling all the time.
    - the motor stops twice in the video, that was my fault, I touched the ignition key...
    - the person who sold the outboard to me just changed the head gasket but the motor has not been mounted on a boat thus has not seen water since.
    - I measured compression, 185 PSI on all four cylinders, so that's fine.
    - I checked the neutral switch because the RPM does not exceed 3500rpm but this switch works fine.

    My main questions:

    1) as you can see in the video (after 30 seconds) there's some milky water flowing out the exhaust while idling. What's that ? Is this oil leakage ? But the head gasket just has been changed and compression is good ????

    2) Why does the motor only run up to 3500 RPM ? As said, the neutral switch is OK....

    3) I have a manual for DF60 for 2003+ but my modell is 1999. Are there any mayor differences, where can I get the 1999 model service manuel ? I am asking because when I first tried to run the engine it didn't start. The check engine lamp flashed 4-2 which is a CKP sensor fault according to my 2003 manual. I finally found that a vacuum tube was missing on a pressure sensor which fixed that problem....

    4) ...right now there are no check engine or other warning lamps on, but as you can hear in the video there are some short buzzer sounds from time to time. What does that mean ?

Any help or suggestion how to proceed are highly welcome !

    Thanks

    Ralf

    Hi again,

I solved some issues today and seems the engine is running now
    See http://www.regio.com/df60_fix.mp4

The spark firing sequence was wrong and the milky water was unburned fuel+water. I also blew the pee hole so it's peeing again.

But as you see, the motor still beeps every 4-5 seconds and when I accelerate, around 3000 rpm the speed is not stable. However I can go to 5000+ rpm now.
Any idea how to solve that ?

    Thanks

    Ralf

The buzzer would be a fault code activated, Need to have it checked with computer diagnostic to see what code is activated.

Thanks. Is this something I can do on my own ?
Any standard interface and software like OBD2 for cars ?

Or can I simply reset it and hope it won't occur again ?
(as said earlier, there was a loose vacuum hose to a sensor
and the firing sequence was bad because I mixed the ignition cables)

        Regards

Yes there is a self diagnostic. when the engine is not running count the different number of flashes. long pause separates the code flashes. I recommend a manual for propper self repair.
