play in throttle

I have a 2003 dfi 70 hp and I found that I had idling problems due to play in throttle cable. I found about a half inch of play while trying to adjust the throttle at the engine. I have a 2003 suzuki console mount single arm helm, and I suspect the problem lies in the helm. I know nothing about any adjustments to the helm, and since viewing the helm drawings, I'm not sure I can solve my problem without help. Any advice will be appreciated.

The cable end are threaded onto cables in control as well, if can't get enough adjustment at control box then may have a bad cable.
