  • 1988 150 Super six air/fuel adjustment

    I have a 1988 Suzuki Super Six 150. It runs very well. I've had no problems since I purchased this motor 4 years ago. However, it does idle a little rough. I've head that's the nature of these motors but I was wondering if I could adjust the air/fuel screws on each carb individually? It has three carburetors. Somewhere I remember that I was told you could do serious damage to your motor if you did this, but I can't remember the specifics. Like I said the motor runs very well, so I'd just as soon not mess with it if there's a chance of doing any damage, but it would be nice if it idled a little smoother. Does anybody have any advise on this? Thanks for your time.

    I have the exact same motor, same year. I've also had mine about 4 years and it has always idled rough. It usually dies on me once or twice from a cold start before she settles down, but then runs great all day (except for my alarm issue at idle...which I'm still fighting...see my recent post). This motor is meant to fly, not to troll. If she runs good other than a loping idle, I would leave well enough alone and not mess too much with the carbs.

      Thanks for the reply. I did read your posts and I have had the same issue but only at times. Mine only goes off about 1 out of 100 times. I replaced the impeller, checked the sensors also, etc.. It's a mystery to me as well. I don't know about yours, but that alarm is really loud and annoying isn't it. Before I purchased this motor I did a post and asked about these motors and the general response is that they are great, but shake a lot at idle. So maybe your right and I should just leave well enough alone! It does run really good other than that.
