1999 DF50 Check engine light and beep sound limited to 3000 RPMS

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I ran my boat which has a 1999 Suzuki DF50 and it was just maxing out to 3000 RPMS and that's it. Then engine light appeared on tach and beep sound after repeated all the way back to dock. Any ideas what the problem could be? 220 hours on hour meter;last serviced at 100 hours;bogging down when running...idles rough as well; all this just occured out of the blue???

Does my problem sound like a major issue and expensive to fix? If compression is bad on cylinder? Spark plugs should not be so much but what I'm worried about if my syptoms sound like a big problem or not? As far as expense? Thank you

nah it is running in safe mode check oil and temp sender
