DT6 questions

1. I have a 6hp 2-stroke outboard. How do I find out what year my motor is?

2. My motor idles only when it's at a high speed. It dies at a low speed, particularly when I switch it into gear (unless I immediately increase the throttle). Also, I have to keep the choke out for a long time to keep the motor alive at any speed. Any ideas as to what the problem is, and how to fix it?

Check the serial number chart on top of forum to identify year.
Probably need to remove and clean carb.
