9.9 4 Cyl DF - Water in Cylinders

Motor would not start. Brought it to a dealer. Upon initial inspection said the Fly Wheel Key is broken. Could that cause water and air to build up rust on spark plug threads. They are now pulling the power head to determine total damage. Any ideas? Thanks.

Water in cylinders could cause a sheared flywheel key if had enough water in cylinder to hydro-lock piston.
